Oh horror of horrors! In a New York Times article published yesterday designer Oscar de la Renta was erroneously identified as Giorgio Armani. After noticing the mistake de la Renta called the paper to complain saying: “It’s just fabulous for my ego. Whoever did it must have been on some kind of LSD I don’t know about.”

Philadelphia University has awarded Tommy Hilfiger its 2011 Spirit of Design prize. The award, first given to Geoffrey Beene nine years ago, is presented to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the world of fashion and design. Past recipients have included Calvin Klein’s Francisco Costa, Mary McFadden and “Project Runway” season one winner Jay McCarroll.
